WHAT’S GONNA HAPPEN NEXT IN THE MOBILE APP MARKET?

If you are like every other random guy on the street, who likes to download new apps as soon as they approach a “hit” in the market, you probably can’t spend your day without having your mobile phone in your pocket. Although it’s hard to imagine the app that you use at the moment will be on the app store in the next 10 years, the craze at present is seemingly high.

In fact, the future of mobile apps is a never-ending journey – if there is an end to it, people would go crazy to see their favorite mobile app back in the app store. On the positive side, things are just getting better! After 10 years from now, if there is a technology that would replace mobile apps, it would probably be a lot better than what you could do with a mobile app – so, there is a lot more coming up, hold your breath, and wait!

Now let’s get into the deeper side of the mobile app market – this is an overview of how the market is supposed to be changing in the next five years or so.

Video content will be of more interest to the users with the emergence of the 5G internet…

The world is going mobile…and with faster internet connection speeds, the transformation will continuously be on the high end of the graph. Joe Kochan, the chief operating officer for US Ignite, concludes that Gigabit broadband connection will add serious transmutation replacing today's internet of images, videos, and text. You will see yourself talking to the doctors, merchants, and educators, not through emails but through instantaneous, real-time video interaction that doesn’t require a specific setup or configuration. Even more, an associate professor, Jason Hong, anticipates a variety of apps that enable better interaction in terms of robotic controls, videos, sound quality, and time.

Hong also predicts that by the end of 2025 many of you will start using life-logging technologies to capture every little event of your life that you can share with other people, and more data is about to be consumed to persistently capture and store all that you happen to come across.

The mobile app market is supposed to evolve to a large extent by 2020 making $100 billion in revenues…

Statistics presented lately on the projected mobile app revenues revealed a significant uplift, measuring the total of $100B by 2020 via app stores, which is more than double the revenue measured in 2015.

Self-monitoring apps will introduce a lot more tasks that you can do, other than just monitoring health…

Apart from monitoring your health with an app, you will be able to continuously share with the world whatsoever you are doing. The self-monitoring apps will include all aspects of people’s lives – time spent at work, minutes spent eating or moving, your calorie consumption per hour, etc.

In the upcoming years, you will have an app that lets you plan your daily curriculum including, the time you spend answering emails, collaborating with others, and the time you take to reach a particular destination. Aside from that, you will be able to evaluate the time you spend chatting with co-workers. Such apps could make use of sensing technologies like micro transmitters or near-field communications to keep track of your activities at the office.

We are rapidly approaching a smartphone-dominated world. An example of this is Samsung’s new smart-refrigerator model, which has a tablet attached to it. That said, many of the smart devices are already turning out to be an extension of smartphones. We will be able to access and control everything through smart devices, anytime, and from anywhere. And the role of mobile apps in that sense seems to be a critical one, in a smart-phone dominated world!
